My First Memebox Box Party

Hello my dear SanSeoulites! I’m late to the game compared to many other beauty bloggers out there, but I have an unrequited love with Memebox. This week they had their Big Box Party aka RESTOCK TIME! If you have never heard of them let me give you the TLDR version. Pretty sure you will love them as much as I do once you give them a chance. Memebox curates Korean beauty boxes containing skincare & make up along with a shop for individual items or sets. They have both an international & U.S. shop based in California so if you order from the U.S. then your order will arrive very quickly. Since I live in the U.S. I had to stay awake until almost 3:00 am on a daily basis to attempt to snag one of these in the thirty seconds they will be available due to the quantity & the site itself crashing. Was I crazy for doing this? I’m not sure, but I was definitely exhausted by the time day three came around.

These are some of the boxes that I was hoping to pick up.

The only night I was successful in purchasing boxes I wanted was the first night when boxes were restocked one by one before going “live” on their Box Party Page. I snagged a Soothingsista that I missed the first time & My Cute Wishlist 4. I was hoping that the first box from the My Cute Wishlist series would be restocked, but so far no such luck.

The photos show the contents of both boxes. Photo credits: www.memebox.com and  https://sandmbeauty.wordpress.com/2014/12/03/memebox-review-my-cute-wishlist-4/.

I’m excited to grow my k-beauty collection, & hopefully Memebox has another restock in the future. The big question lingers though….Would you swap your sanity for a restock?

I am very excited to write this post because I am what I like to call a newborn blogger. That is newer than a newbie, but in time I will learn & I will grow. This award is chosen by other bloggers & the rules are very simple to follow as you can see below:

  • Answer the questions given by the nominator
  • Nominate 11 blogs with less than 200 followers (I’m ambitious so I did 12)
  • Create 11 questions for the nominees to answer
  • Let the bloggers you have nominated know via their blogs/ social media

 My Answers

What is the one make-up item you can’t go without?

I could not go without my Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 mascara. They are a cruelty free brand & this mascara draws attention to my eyes instead of the bags under them. Not a bad deal for $20!

Favorite Drugstore brand?

Right now I’m in love with Korean make up. It has to be a tie between Etude House & Banila Co., but Maybelline is a definite favorite stateside. I tend to pick up their BB cream or eyeliner to hold me over if I’m waiting for other products. I think it’s a great brand for everyday wear.

Favorite High-End brand?

After sitting down for a consultation & having my make-up done for graduation I am a new fan of MAC. I went for a matte look since I needed something to last for hours & this did the trick. It lasted all day & my photos came out great! That’s all the proof I needed.

Bold or minimal eye make-up?

Minimal, but that is mostly because I am a total make-up noob. Yup, I love so many dramatic looks, but getting my hands to cooperate & make it happen is another story. In minimal make-up I always feel good because I still look like me; I’m just a little enhanced.

Favorite song at the moment?

I currently can’t stop dancing to Thinking About You by Loco feat Jay Park. It’s in the k-hip hop genre so go check it out & prepare to fall in love too!

Favorite shop for clothes?

Forever 21 & Agaci are my go to shops around town, but I do enjoy thrift stores & checking out Top Shop online.

Tea or Coffee?

Tea all the way! I’m a huge fan of Tazo teas & it is one of the few things I will actually drink if I happen upon a Starbucks.

One place in the world you want to visit?

South Korea!!!! I think I might go into shock if I ever go. So much k-pop, k-drama, skincare & cosmetics & OMG the food! See I’m super excited. For now I have to check out Korean establishments locally, but someday I will make it there.

Best food to snack on?

Lindor truffles are my guilty pleasure. 🙂 Got to love chocolate!

Blog goals for 2015?

I just started blogging so I want to get the hang of everything. I hope that I am able to gain a following & that people enjoy seeing a glimpse of my world.

3 Celebrity crushes?

I like my rainbows how I like my men – one in every color hahaha! I kid. I kid. Seriously though does it hurt to be so gorgeous!? I think the common denominator would be personality types. I like guys who have a sense of humor & carry themselves well. (My husband is very lucky to be all of those things!) ^_^

shemar moore

Getting to see Shemar Moore is one of the perks of watching Criminal Minds.

lee dong wook

Lee Dong-Wook who I first saw him on the Korean show called Roommate. He seems very down to earth & has a great sense of humor. Once I discovered he’s an actor I had to check out his dramas.

jensen ackles

Jensen Ackles who is probably better known as Dean Winchester from Supernatural. He plays the part of the cool older brother, but he is a surprisingly sensitive soul.

My questions for the nominees.

  1. Favorite make-up brand (can be drugstore or high-end)?
  2. How would you describe your fashion style?
  3. Favorite shop for clothes?
  4. Which takes more focus in your beauty routine: skincare or make up?
  5. If you could have any career in the world, what would that be?
  6. What is your favorite song of all time?
  7. One place in the world you want to visit?
  8. Favorite meal?
  9. Favorite television series?
  10. What do you see yourself doing in 5 years?
  11. 3 Celebrity crushes?

Now I pass it on to others who I hope will have as much fun answering these questions as I did.

That’s all for now my dear SanSeoulites!  heart gif

The men you love to hate in Birth of a Beauty

You can call it second male lead syndrome or a love for bad boys with the hope they can be fixed, but O-M-G these two can make you forget all about their evil murderous ways. First up we have Jung Gyu-Woon as Lee Kang-Joon the husband/ex-husband of the beautiful Sara (formerly Sa Geum-Ran) who not only cheated on the poor woman, but ran her car off the road in an attempt to kill her so he create a new life with his mistress. Tsk. Tsk. Just look at that face. I can’t say that I blame Sara one bit. At first I would have fell for him too, especially when he proceeds to date his ex-wife who had plastic surgery and is now unrecognizable. He falls for the woman who is comfortably familiar, but still new and exciting. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I don’t see that happily-ever-after thing working out for our Lee Kang-Joon.

Pros:

  • Easy on the eyes I repeat EZ on the eyes.
  • Head of company because no drama is complete without the financially stable villain.
  • Charming (well as charming as Prince Charming a la’ Shrek).

Cons:

  • Attempted murder (I would say that’s a deal breaker, yes?)
  • C-R-A-Z-Y

Next on our list may be my new bias. Be still my heart. Han Sang-Jin as Han Min-Hyeok the evil half brother of our main character Han Tae Hee and the illegitimate heir to Winner Group. These two men work together while Han Min-Hyeok is definitely the alpha male who calls the shots. Birth of a Beauty toys with our emotions by making us believe that he is just another wealthy lonely man looking for someone to love. He becomes smitten with Sara (like all the other men on the show) and tries to win her affection. His family has a tragic back story & you want to cheer him on, but once he discovers the truth he choses to embrace the evil that has always surrounded him.  While he is a calculated businessman I must give props for his brilliant mind. Our Han Min-Hyeok is cold alright – cold as ice.

PROS:

  • The man knows how to rock a suit.
  • Power – he has it & he knows it.
  • Wealthy (because every villain needs funds hun)
  • Gorgeous! Whew!

CONS:

  • Cold & calculated.
  • He “chooses” to be evil.
  • Attempts to kill his brother. (No!!!)
  • Power – quite the double edged sword for this category.

Who’s your favorite bad guy in dramaland?

The Etude House Waiting Game

Hello my fellow SanSeoulites! Back in November I placed my very first order with Etude House. They offered 50% off their popular sheet masks along with free shipping for orders under 1.6kg. Being the great deal that it was I purchased a stack of sheet masks for 48 cents a piece along with a two part sheet mask, two black charcoal chin strips, & a lip gel patch.

Etude House Haul

As a somewhat new Korean beauty addict I waited patiently (okay, I may have stalked my postman) for my order to arrive. During this time I emailed Etude House numerous times to request my tracking number. When I finally received a reply the woman was a bit snarky & claimed it had been sent before, but she still gave me it to me again. At this point I didn’t care, because I had my magic numbers. I cannot stress this enough, if you plan to order through their website then CREATE AN ACCOUNT  first. This will allow you to track your order along with being able to earn points for future use. Currently 3 points is equal to $1. After a month passed I was very worried about my package. The company did email me to let me know that it was stuck in Los Angeles & offered me a 20% coupon code to help make up for it. When I finally received my order nearly two months had passed. I was a bit apprehensive when it arrived. In my head I imagined a squished leaky box, but everything arrived in perfect condition! .

Feel free to check out my photos below. I am currently trying these out & my favorite has been lemon of all things!

Leave me a comment & let me know. What’s your favorite kind of sheet mask?

Hello my SanSeoulites, annyeonghaseyo! I’m so sorry it has been awhile since my last post. I was completely swamped with finishing my last semester of college. I graduated a week ago with my BA so hooray for me!!! I know you can’t see it, but I’m jumping up & down like a girl who just met her ultimate bias. ^_^  Yes, I am THAT excited! This is great news for you as well. Why, you ask? Because I now have the time to expand and invite you all to something that I have only dreamed about. Of course this is a learning process so please bear with me while everything gets properly sorted. I won’t bore you with the details of building from the ground up, however, if you would like to help out please contact me at sanantonioseoul@gmail.com.

Welcome to SanSeoul

Hallyu or the Korean wave is alive and well within the United States, particularly in Texas, where the K-pop movement has developed in hopes of being noticed by South Korea entertainment agencies. Hallyu is about more than k-pop though, it is a love of Korean culture along with their heart wrenching k-dramas, skincare, make up, & oh so delicious food. Residing in good ol’ San Antonio, Texas poses its own logistical challenges. Amazon, Drama Fever, & Hulu might be our best friend, but if we would like to see a k-pop group live or buy a variety of beauty merchandise then we must drive to Houston or Dallas or if we’re lucky enough only two hours to Austin! *Gasp* My goal with this blog is to explore San Antonio (along with the surrounding areas) & seek out the most friendly Hallyu people and places.  So subscribe, follow, and comment to stay connected. Kamsahamnida or 감사합니다!
