Foodaholic Gold Energy Hydrogel Mask Review

Hello again Sanseoulites! While it has been awhile I promise I have missed each and every one of you a great deal. After taking a brief hiatus I am ready to get back to work and share my insights. After discovering a new site to order k-beauty products from I knew I had to try them out. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised.

The Website : Skin 18

They are currently running a promotion for FREE MASKS!!! All you have to do is pay shipping. Just make sure to follow the rules on their page. You can only get 1 of each type of mask. Check them out here.

I ordered an assortment of 15 masks for only $10! I had sticker shock when I went to check out. LOL The package arrived within two weeks which is pretty standard. It came from Hong Kong & had a low value which I know my international friends appreciate.

All the goods from Skin18.

All the goods from Skin18.

After I received these it took me awhile to decide which one I wanted to try first. The lucky winner was the Gold Energy Hydrogel Mask because duh GOLD!! Part of me was curious to try this just because of the brand name Foodaholic.

My Experience:

gold hydrogel mask

Doesn’t that look pretty? I took the mask out of the package & was amazed by how bright the gold looked. When I removed the paper backing I realized that this mask came in two pieces. The only other time I had ever used hydrogel was with eye patches so I figured it would be a similar experience as far as texture & moisture were concerned. Placing two slick mask pieces proved to be more of a challenge than I was expecting.

Gold mask

The gold looked very translucent once applied & as you can see I had some gaps around my eyes, but at least it stayed in place. I took this off after 40 minutes & even then it still felt extremely moist. I think this is a mask I could have slept in. It did have a slight sticky feeling, but once I let the remaining essence soak in I noticed that it went away.

My overall thoughts:

I was very pleased with this site & the mask. I noticed immediate results. My skin can sometimes dwell on the oily & dehydrated side so to see my face looking plump & radiant…well all I can say is OMG! I was doing a little happy dance on the inside. In the future I plan on reordering from Skin18. Just remember that even though they are offering these freebies; let’s show them some love & buy a few other items as well.

If anyone has tried any other hydrogel mask that you loved then let me know in the comments below. I’m always looking for new beauty products to try out.

Until next time my dears,

The 3B Box April 2015 Unboxing

Hello SanSeoulites! I am super excited to tell you about a new subscription box called The 3B Box. 3B stands for beauty beyond borders. I signed up for this box in January and I finally got off the waitlist. Yay! This is a newer Asian skincare company based in the United States that charges $12/month for roughly 4-5 products. Most of the products will be samples, but that is part of the reason they are so inexpensive. They are also in the process of setting up shop to sell full size products so for now we all have to be patient. I highly recommend signing up for their waitlist. They currently only ship within the US, but we can all cross our fingers and hope for international shipping.

The reveal:

The 3b box april 2015

Everything arrived in a pouch which was fine by me because I can always reuse it.

3b box april 2015

This box included a few full size products (I definitely wasn’t expecting that), and after looking at spoilers from others who already received their boxes I realized that some people received the TonyMoly  Aquaporin Moisture foam cleanser while others had the TonyMoly Intense Care Snail foam cleanser.

Here’s the information card that came along with everything.

3B information card

Products:

skinfood silicon cleansing pad

tonymoly foam cleanser

Skinfood Silicon Cleansing Pad A popular way to help thoroughly cleanse and exfoliate the skin, this silicon cleansing pad uses tiny bristles to invigorate the skin and clean out pores. Long term use results in a clear and radiant complexion. Apply favorite cleanser to face and use cleansing pad to gently massage skin. Rinse with lukewarm water.

TonyMoly Aquaporin Moisture Foam Cleanser – This Korean micro-foam cleanser effectively clears out deep impurities without stripping skin of its natural moisture. It contains no parabens, mineral oils, benzophenone, or tar color. Apply a small amount onto wet skin and gently massage into a lather. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

I was really happy to get both a foam cleanser and the silicon cleansing pad together. To top it off I was in need of more foam cleanser and this showed up just in time. I can’t wait to try it out. I have used a cleansing pad before stateside, but I haven’t seen them sold as a single item.

Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel – This gel contains 80% aloe and propolis to help soothe irritated skin, fade acne scars, brighten skintone and maintain hydration throughout the day. Apply gel to face and neck after cleansing and toner. Lightly pat into skin for greater absorption.

After discovering the world of AHA and BHA the Benton skincare line has been on my “must try” list. I have heard nothing, but great things about them. Hopefully these will become my holy grail products in the future.

Innisfree Bija Sheet Mask

Innisfree Bija Sheet MaskFormulated with Jejubija (Bija) herbs, this natural mask revitalizes the skin while providing key nutrients. After cleansing apply sheet mask onto face for 10-20 minutes. Upon removing, pat excess product into face for greater absorption.

Overall thoughts:

The 3B box has definitely made a great first impression on me. I love everything in this box. You should give it a try too! Sign up here and then be patient. They are continually moving people off of the waitlist so hopefully the wait won’t be too terribly long.

Etude House Dr. Ampoule Dual Mask Sheet Review

etude house dsm stock photo

Hello fellow SanSeoulites! Recently I decided that I wanted to try out a the Dr. Ampoule Dual Mask Sheet from Etude House. I figured it would end in one of two ways. #1 I would absolutely love it or #2 my poor face would be a soaking wet mess. Let’s just say I hoped for option one. They come in five different varieties: brightening, time, lifting, vital, and essential. After looking at this photo I kind of feel like I need them all.

My Experience:

eh sm4

etude housedr ampoule time sheet mask

In the photo you can see that the mask is labeled 1 and 2.  You simply open section one first, apply to your face, & then open section two and put the mask on. I recommend tearing off section one first for easy application. The back of these masks do have directions in English, however, it is very small to read. Just look for them at the bottom below the bar code.

etude house dr. ampoule

Silly me forgot to take a photo of how the serum looked so you will just have to take my word for it. When I opened it I discovered a clearish white gel that had a very thick consistency to it. I was doubtful this mask would even work at this point.

dr ampoule time dual sheet mask

The mask itself seemed like any other sheet mask from Etude House. It contained a lot of essence so of course I decided to use the extra for my neck and hands. I love the fit of these mask mostly because they are the right size for my face. (Yes, I  am pint size).

I decided to leave the Dr. Ampoule Dual Mask Sheet on for roughly 30 minutes, but when I removed it I realized that my face felt like it was still soaked. I attempted to remain optimistic and patted my face to absorb the rest of the liquid. Even then it was still very wet so I decided to see how long it would take to air dry. After ten minutes everything had absorbed into my skin. I WAS ECSTATIC! The mask worked and did not leave any sort of film. I was very afraid that I was going to have to simply wash everything off afterwards.

My overall thoughts:

I liked this mask and in the future I would like to try out the other varieties so I will definitely repurchase. My cons would be the texture and the heaviness of the product.  If the texture is something that would bother you then I would not recommend this mask series. I don’t mind how long it took since that is usually the amount of time I leave sheet mask on anyway. I would give this mask 3.5 out of 5.

Until next time my dears,

Honest Skin Beauty Haul

Honest Skin logo

As I procrastinated writing my next mask review I received a letter that a package was waiting for me via the post office across town. *sigh* This poor box came from Korea and sat in my town for a few days before it was mistakenly sent back overseas. This meant it had to be delivered a second time and now it was at the wrong post office. After driving across town I discovered that they did not have my package, but someone used one of their trucks. This pretty much summed up my feelings.

kanye mad face

Yes, I was having a total Kanye moment.

Eventually I made it to my original post office and my package was finally safe! For those who are not familiar with Honest Skin let me give you a quick summary.

Once Upon a Time there was a company that sold Korean skincare and make up at LOW LOW prices. Then one day they magically raised prices while offering free shipping. The princess being the savvy shopper that she is said “I don’t think so!” and proceeded to take her business elsewhere. The end.

I was actually very fond of Honest Skin before the price changes. Now I will only buy from them is I cannot find a better deal on an item. At least then their free shipping will be beneficial. Now one thing I do like is how they mark their packages. I have a lot of international friends who have dealt with the nightmare that is customs and VATs.

honest skin custom form

Everything was marked for a very low price. My package arrived in good condition, but at that point I had forgotten what I ordered in the first place! Opening the box didn’t really help me either.

See this is bubble wrap city, but in my opinion that is how all my items usually arrive safely. Now behold the glory of my Honest Skin haul.

Honest skin Korean skincare

Yay, look at all the pretties! I was a bit sad that I only received two samples this time, but companies don’t have to provide them at all so I will take it. Here’s a closer look of all the goodies. *All stock photos courtesy of Honest Skin.

My Beauty Diary Black Pearl Mask Review

Hello my dear SanSeoulites! This is the first post of a series I like to call Mask Mondays. Today I will be reviewing the Black Pearl sheet mask from My Beauty Diary. They are a very popular brand from Taiwan. I have included a chart below that contains most of the different varieties that they offer. I am a visual type of person so a photo like this allows me to quickly scan and pinpoint my skin needs.

Price:

Sasa  has a box of 10 available for $13.50

Walmart is a great choice if you live in the United States. They are $13.75 for a box of 10 and shipping is on the cheaper side.

Minnano Japanese Grocery is my local choice. They only sell individual masks, but that is a plus if you want to try out different varieties. You can read about my experience here. Current prices: 1 x $1.60 or 3 x $3.99.

***Disclaimer – I received no compensation for this review and the links are only provided as a way to help you find the product.***

My experience:

When I found this mask I was surprised by how small the packaging was compared to other companies. A part of me thought I had just bought the dreaded knock-off version. Once I consulted with the beauty community they put my fears to rest. While I purchased a few different kinds I could not wait to try the Black Pearl!

MBD1

I hadn’t even opened the package yet and I was already in love.

Once opened I discovered that this was a cotton sheet and you peeled the mask off of the plastic backing.

MBD2

To my surprise this packet contains a lot of essence…I mean A LOT!!! I hade a soaking wet mask and enough to save for later. I will probably buy a few cotton masks to soak in the remaining essence. I know a lot of people leave these masks on until they dry or go to sleep while wearing them, but I decided to play it safe for my first time so I only left it on for 25 minutes.

This mask was waaaaay too big for my face, but I made it work! The scent was not strong and I had no adverse reactions. After I removed the mask I patted the remaining essence onto my skin and neck. My immediate impression was that my skin seemed brighter, although that was a temporary effect. I wish I had time to use something like this is the morning to give myself a bright and dewy look.

My overall thoughts:

I liked this mask and now that I know how to use it I will try out a few more of these. I will definitely repurchase in the future. It’s way too easy to run down to Minnano to pick up a few. If I had to rate this I would give it a 4 out of 5. The fit of the mask was the only con I had. With that being said I only have one other question.

What’s your favorite mask from My Beauty Diary?

Local Treasures

Today I decided to brave the rain & go check out Minnano Japanese Grocery. (Click on the link to find their Facebook page). I honestly went in search of sheet mask(s). I have heard that My Beauty Diary is a great brand so I picked up a few for myself & a friend to try out. I think I will debut these on my Mask Mondays so stay tuned!

The store itself was small so I don’t think I would consider it a grocery store. It seems almost like a tourist hotspot. Minnano was stocked to the brim with merchandise, very clean, & all of the staff were super friendly. I even found myself bowing back out of habit. lol Maybe I have watched one too many k-dramas. It seems to be divided up into a few sections consisting mainly of fresh food (meat mostly), snacks, drinks, oils, cookwear, beauty, & small otaku style collectibles & gifts. I walked out with a bag of cute snacks so hopefully they taste as amazing as they look!

mjg2

mjg3

Top row (from left to right) : Black Pearl, Natto, & Rice.

Bottom row: Red Wine, Caviar, & Strawberry Yogurt.

These were on sale for 1 x $1.60 or 3 x $3.99. If anyone has tried this brand out please let me know!

If I had to rate this place I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. I honestly wish it was bigger! I was hoping to stock up on some cooking essentials, but I think I will have to check out some other markets in town. As for the sheet masks I am hoping that I have found my new favorite local shop to splurge at!

Until next time my dear SanSeoulites…heart gifheart gif

Etude House Dear My Blooming Lips

Yesterday I went to collect the post & realized that my order from Honest Skin had arrived. I think it is safe to say that at this point I may be slightly obsessed enamoured with Etude House. Everything is so pretty in pink (<— You see what I did there? 🙂 If you have not seen this classic then I suggest you do so.) Maybe I enjoy this girly brand because I am the only female in my house or it could be because I am dreading turning 29. Either way girly makeup is just what the doctor ordered! I decided to be bold & purchased RD302 & PK003 from the Dear My Blooming Lips collection. Here’s the lovely lippies now.

lipstick1

I am absolutely loving the detail here. The soft pink with the bows. I feel like Aurora from Sleeping Beauty.

lipstick2

See I told you I wanted to take a risk. Look at how bright they are. ^_^  In my next photo I had to resort to using a bright flash, but it was the only way to show the surprising details!

bright

They have these super cute whimsical hearts engraved in each one. I kind of want to just keep these on my vanity & not use them. For comparison purposes I will include my swatches & the ad from Etude House.

labled-eh-swatches

I wanted red & I got it. The pink is after two coats so I was happy to see that I can play around & adjust the color to my liking. The application was surprisingly smooth for a brand that many consider to be lower end. (In my eyes even the Korean lower end or drug store brands are still leaps and bounds ahead of most of the brands here in the United States). Plus the price did not hurt. The Etude House website has these available for $8.50 a piece. I got these during a flash sale by Honest Skin for $1.98 each!!! How crazy is that? Even with the $5 shipping that means I actually received these for $8.96. Not a bad deal if you ask me.

So far I am impressed by their cuteness factor and easy application. I still have to test how long a single application will last, but overall I am very pleased. If these color swatches below are correct then I will have to add to my collection.

My First Memebox Box Party

Hello my dear SanSeoulites! I’m late to the game compared to many other beauty bloggers out there, but I have an unrequited love with Memebox. This week they had their Big Box Party aka RESTOCK TIME! If you have never heard of them let me give you the TLDR version. Pretty sure you will love them as much as I do once you give them a chance. Memebox curates Korean beauty boxes containing skincare & make up along with a shop for individual items or sets. They have both an international & U.S. shop based in California so if you order from the U.S. then your order will arrive very quickly. Since I live in the U.S. I had to stay awake until almost 3:00 am on a daily basis to attempt to snag one of these in the thirty seconds they will be available due to the quantity & the site itself crashing. Was I crazy for doing this? I’m not sure, but I was definitely exhausted by the time day three came around.

IMG_1888

These are some of the boxes that I was hoping to pick up.

The only night I was successful in purchasing boxes I wanted was the first night when boxes were restocked one by one before going “live” on their Box Party Page. I snagged a Soothingsista that I missed the first time & My Cute Wishlist 4. I was hoping that the first box from the My Cute Wishlist series would be restocked, but so far no such luck.

soothingsistaunboxed20141203-111834-40714658

The photos show the contents of both boxes. Photo credits: www.memebox.com and  https://sandmbeauty.wordpress.com/2014/12/03/memebox-review-my-cute-wishlist-4/.

I’m excited to grow my k-beauty collection, & hopefully Memebox has another restock in the future. The big question lingers though….Would you swap your sanity for a restock?

The Etude House Waiting Game

Hello my fellow SanSeoulites! Back in November I placed my very first order with Etude House. They offered 50% off their popular sheet masks along with free shipping for orders under 1.6kg. Being the great deal that it was I purchased a stack of sheet masks for 48 cents a piece along with a two part sheet mask, two black charcoal chin strips, & a lip gel patch.

Etude House Haul

As a somewhat new Korean beauty addict I waited patiently (okay, I may have stalked my postman) for my order to arrive. During this time I emailed Etude House numerous times to request my tracking number. When I finally received a reply the woman was a bit snarky & claimed it had been sent before, but she still gave me it to me again. At this point I didn’t care, because I had my magic numbers. I cannot stress this enough, if you plan to order through their website then CREATE AN ACCOUNT  first. This will allow you to track your order along with being able to earn points for future use. Currently 3 points is equal to $1. After a month passed I was very worried about my package. The company did email me to let me know that it was stuck in Los Angeles & offered me a 20% coupon code to help make up for it. When I finally received my order nearly two months had passed. I was a bit apprehensive when it arrived. In my head I imagined a squished leaky box, but everything arrived in perfect condition! .

Feel free to check out my photos below. I am currently trying these out & my favorite has been lemon of all things!

Leave me a comment & let me know. What’s your favorite kind of sheet mask?
