June 2015 Empties

Well it looks like I am finally able to get around to writing this post so I can share my June empties with everyone. I wanted to start doing this for a few reasons.

1) I constantly receive questions about what I am using or if I like a certain product.

2) I wanted to create a board for products I have used. I am a fan of Pinterest for this option since I am a VERY visual person. Come with me to the dark side; I have cookies.

3) Finishing a product gives me time to decide if I love it, like it, or hate it!

Now onto the good stuff. DRUMROLL PLEASE!!!!!

June 2015 empties

I know a few of you are looking at this photo & wondering how a Lush product ended up in the mix. It’s Okay!

dontpanic_88cab

I just love to try products from all over the world (including the United States).

Lush Cosmetics Breath of Fresh Air Toner Water

Lush toner

Lush is a company that specializes in all natural ingredients & is known for taking a stand against animal testing. That’s a win in my book. They even provide a label that shows who made the product & when it was done. I bought this while I was waiting for another toner to arrive from South Korea. I did not want the typical Western toner that is full of alcohol so I searched for products that would be kind to my face. The smell is very herbal, but not completely overpowering.

***WARNING***  It has an extremely thick consistency for something that is meant to be sprayed directly on your face. I jumped a mile the first time I tried it. After that I switched to the cotton ball method & my face loved me for it.

Lush breath of fresh air tonerSee the label I mentioned? As excited as I was to see a personal touch I was really creeped out by a random face staring at me. Had to turn the poor guy around.

As much as I liked the toner I don’t think I will repurchase. There is nothing wrong with the product, but in a nature versus science type of world my skin gravitates towards science. I think I like to mix the best of both worlds.

Shara Shara Green Oasis Lifting Eye Cream

Shara Shara eye cream

I received this eye cream courtesy of Memebox. At one point I was afraid to order anything from them because Shara Shara was in all of their boxes! This is the first eye cream I have used since I switched from Estee’ Lauder. While I loved their products I can’t say my wallet felt the same way.

Using an eye cream makes a huge difference for me. I always joke that I am cute by Asian beauty standards. Aegyo? Check. Eye smile? Check. Unfortunately this also means that my eyes can appear puffy if I am not careful. Shara Shara is on the lower end of the Korean skincare scale, but I still think that it may be better than some of the U.S. drugstore brands. This is another item I would not repurchase, but I would rather use a cheap eye cream than none at all.

Shara Shara  Black Bear Miracle Capsule Cream

Shara Shara Black bear

Look it’s more Shara Shara! This is from the Memebox X Soothing Sista collaboration. I really liked this box so I decided to give this cream a chance. Even though it says cream it is a clear lightweight gel so don’t let the name fool you. Since I live in a hot & humid climate this product didn’t leave my skin feeling sticky or like I was walking around with a mask. I was able to use this product twice a day without any issues. I would definitely repurchase again in the future.

The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Oil

The Face Shop Rice cleansing oil

This is a repeat purchase for me so obviously I love it. I was drawn to this as soon as I saw the word rice. LOL I used this as part of the double cleansing method. It is amazing with make up removal. At first it seemed very strange to put oil on my face, but once I saw the results I was sold. It’s such a gentle way to remove make up, dirt, oil, etc. that I really dislike harsh foam cleansers. I will more than likely repurchase this in the future. I also love the fact that The Face Shop has stores here in Texas so I can visit in person. All in all it wasn’t a bad month. I would repurchase two out of four products.

Have you tried any of these products yet? Which one is your favorite?

Mishibox Review June 2015

After waiting what felt like an eternity Mishibox has finally launched! I was so excited to see what their first box contained. In an industry that is currently oversaturated with beauty boxes it makes it hard to stand out from the crowd. Many have tried and ultimately failed so I chose to remain cautiously optimistic. Just a reminder that if you signed up for the June box it did NOT automatically renew you for the July box. You must sign up again to start monthly service. You can do so here.

What is Mishibox?

Mishibox is a monthly Korean beauty box subscription. They currently only ship to customers within the United States.

How much does it cost?

If you sign up for the July box you can lock in the rate of $18.95 per month. Starting in August the price will increase to $19.95 per month. All prices include free shipping!

What will be included?

4-6 Beauty products consisting of full size & samples.

Information card (directions) will be in English.

Ingredient list will be available on the website after they are translated.

The Unboxing

mishibox june 2015

I love that this came in a pink box. I typically love all things girly.

mishibox 2015

Everything arrived packed in tissue paper & paper scraps. I thought it was a cost efficient way to ship items. The products appeared to be dusty at first, but that is just the result of the packaging. Wipe them off & they are perfectly fine.

THE GOODS!!!! So excited to see 3 full size items in their first box.

The Products

Banila Co. Cleanse It Zero

Banila_Co_Clean_It_Zero_100ml

I actually just received my second order of this cleansing balm because I love it so much. Samples are nice when I am traveling or waiting for replacements to arrive. This goes in the win category for me.

Benton Honest Cleansing Foam

Benton has been on my must try list for awhile. I have a few other samples as well so now I have a complete line to try out. I know the Ph is high, but I am hoping that the Cosrx AHA/BHA toner I recently purchased will return my skin to the Ph level it needs to be.

Benton Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack

I am usually excited to receive sheet mask, but I am currently on the fence about this one. I love any product that contains snail, but I am hoping that I will not have any sensitivity issues to the “bee” portion. I will let you all know later if I loved it or if my face turned into a tomato. I have seen countless bloggers highly recommend this mask so fingers crossed!

Holika Holika Aloe 99% Soothing Gel

Be still my beating heart. Since I am from Texas aloe & I have been longtime friends. The weather here is hot & humid a good portion of the year so this is a blessing. I will use aloe from head to toe. So much win Mishibox!!!

Holika Holika Jewel Light Waterproof Eyeliner (assorted colors)

I received color 01 (black jam). Let’s be honest here okay. It’s an eyeliner. Super exciting I know. On the plus side I can actually use this color so thank you basic black. I tend to view these as filler items for subscription boxes. I don’t mind a makeup item every now & then, but I hope it is not a monthly occurrence.

Skylake Oriental Herb Cool Shampoo

skylake oriental herb cool shampoo

This caught my eye. My poor hair is hating the heat & even my beloved coconut oil is not doing the trick. My hair is a wavy frizzy hot mess! All I can say is thank God for buns. This shampoo has a strong smell; it’s almost like a stateside tea tree one I am quite fond of. I am honestly excited to try this out. With my luck I will fall in love & my wallet will cry, but I will cross that bridge later.

Overall Thoughts

I thought this was a solid first box from a new company. Good job Mishibox! I think this box will be a great choice for those who are new to Korean beauty products & those of us who are on a budget. What really impressed me was how they have responded to the feedback they have received. They sent out emails with surveys attached that allowed us to pick the amount of Ph in our cleansers (high, low, or doesn’t matter).

mb7

The fact that they even acknowledged the feedback they received scored HUGE points with me. To create a survey & attempt to make everyone happy, within reason of course, shows that they are willing to go above & beyond for their customers. Now I am understanding of the fact that they are new & I’m sure they already have products that they need to send out, but in the future I can see them catering to their customer base on a more personal level. If you haven’t already done so make sure to go sign up with Mishibox  so you can join in on the fun too!

Until next time my dear SanSeoulites.

The Lipstick Tag

Hello again SanSeoulites! I am finally back to having a small amount of free time so I can share my super awesome blog posts with you all. I was tagged in this post by Chubbychicsdiary and I absolutely L-O-V-E her blog. It’s almost like having a penpal. Yes, I am showing my age here. Who doesn’t remember having one in school & being so excited to learn about someone else’s life? Now onto the fun part.

The Rules
1.TAG 3 bloggers to answer these same questions.
2.Those bloggers will TAG 3 more bloggers of their choice with the same questions & rules.
3.No tag backs

The Questions

1. How many lipsticks do you own?

FullSizeRender

I have 17. It’s such a small collection, but even then it is taking forever to make my way through this stash.

2. What was your first ever lipstick?

When I was younger my first was the drugstore brand NYX. As I got older my first fancy lippie was from Estee Lauder. My wallet may have cried as a teenager, but I felt luxurious. (Sidenote: I grew up in a small town and there was no such thing as Sephora or MAC. *gasp*)

3. What is your most worn lipstick?

On a daily basis when I am in a rush I usually reach for one of my Tarte lipsticks if I am going for a nude or natural color. If I am feeling more adventureous then I usually gravitate towards Memebox.

4. What is your favorite brand for lipsticks?

I love my MAC lipstick so much that I don’t want to use it. I discovered it when I had my make-up done for graduation & I fell in love.

5. What is your favorite finish?

I love glossy, but I think my hubby makes it a mission to remove it from my lips so I usually just stick with matte.

6. What is the last lipstick you bought?

The last one I received was Vivito from the Soothing Sista X Memebox collaboration when I lucked out during a restock party so it has been a few months.

7. How many lip products do you currently have in your bag?

I usually carry whatever lipstick I’m currently wearing or my lip balm from Banila Co.

8. What lipstick do you use to rock a red lip?

IMG_0177

I alternate between two. The first is from Etude House and you can catch the review I did here. The second is from Memebox. I was actually very surprised at the quality when I received these. They have a smooth application and are pretty long lasting.

9. How do you store your lipsticks?

I have my cute acrylic case & I make it work even though I think it was meant for nail polish.

10. What lip products are you currently lusting over?

I have been wanting to try the Berrisom My Lip Tint Pack. You apply it to your lips, wait, & then peel it off for lasting color! It looks like so much fun.

Would you try the PLACENTA mask sheet???

IMG_2593

The word placenta is almost as bad as the word moist. I shudder when I hear it. Ick! Although it’s now 2015 using placenta is not a new beauty or health fad.

Many beauty benefits are believed to be derived from placenta for skincare, but I have yet to see a set standard that the medical and cosmeceutical communities can agree upon. Most of these help fight aging by reducing the appearance of wrinkles, freckles, and blemishes along with a reduction in sagging skin.

I decided to review the 3W Clinic Fresh Placenta Mask Sheet this week because I wanted to see if there would be any noticeable effects.

3W Clinic Placenta mask sheet

3W Clinic Placenta Sheet Mask

Directions:

1. Wash face.

2. Apply toner.

3. Apply mask sheet.

4. Leave on for 20-30 minutes.

5. Remove mask sheet and lightly pat remaining essence for better absorption.

Price:

Roseroseshop has a set of 10 available for $1.84! They currently have 13 different types to chose from.

Ingredients:

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Alcohol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Polysorbate 60, Cetyl Ethyhexanoate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Allantoin, Hydrolyzed Placenta Protein, Disodium EDTA, Perfume.

Here’s the CosDNA analysis.

Does it contain placenta?

Yes, it contains Hydrolyzed Placenta Protein, but it is so far down the ingredient list that I doubt there is much at all.

What is Hydrolyzed Placenta Protein?

Hydrolyzed :  Break down (a compound) by chemical reaction with water.

Placenta Protein: TLDR version – hormones and other “bad stuff” is removed in order to be used.

My Experience:

I have used other 3W Clinic mask so I did not expect any sort of variation. Here’s what the mask looked like once it was opened.

Placenta sheet mask

I actually thought this mask was going to cover my entire face and neck once I pulled it from the packaging. I was pleasantly surprised to see that once I applied the mask there were no air bubbles so all of my face was covered. The mouth portion was way too big so I had to pull it up, but other than that I had no complaints.

Fast forward thirty minutes later and I remove the mask sheet. It was still very wet, but somehow my face felt sticky. I almost decided to wash my face, but instead I relied on the patting method & allowed it to dry some more. In the end it felt like I had a very thin film resting above my skin.

My Overall Thoughts:

I’m sad to say that I was not impressed with this mask. It was just well…meh. I have used the lemon and the snail from the 3W Clinic series and I liked them so much better. I will probably use the ones I have, but I do not think I will repurchase them. I would give this mask a 2.5 our of 5 stars.

Until next time SanSeoulites,

Etude House Dr. Ampoule Dual Mask Sheet Review

etude house dsm stock photo

Hello fellow SanSeoulites! Recently I decided that I wanted to try out a the Dr. Ampoule Dual Mask Sheet from Etude House. I figured it would end in one of two ways. #1 I would absolutely love it or #2 my poor face would be a soaking wet mess. Let’s just say I hoped for option one. They come in five different varieties: brightening, time, lifting, vital, and essential. After looking at this photo I kind of feel like I need them all.

My Experience:

eh sm4

etude housedr ampoule time sheet mask

In the photo you can see that the mask is labeled 1 and 2.  You simply open section one first, apply to your face, & then open section two and put the mask on. I recommend tearing off section one first for easy application. The back of these masks do have directions in English, however, it is very small to read. Just look for them at the bottom below the bar code.

etude house dr. ampoule

Silly me forgot to take a photo of how the serum looked so you will just have to take my word for it. When I opened it I discovered a clearish white gel that had a very thick consistency to it. I was doubtful this mask would even work at this point.

dr ampoule time dual sheet mask

The mask itself seemed like any other sheet mask from Etude House. It contained a lot of essence so of course I decided to use the extra for my neck and hands. I love the fit of these mask mostly because they are the right size for my face. (Yes, I  am pint size).

I decided to leave the Dr. Ampoule Dual Mask Sheet on for roughly 30 minutes, but when I removed it I realized that my face felt like it was still soaked. I attempted to remain optimistic and patted my face to absorb the rest of the liquid. Even then it was still very wet so I decided to see how long it would take to air dry. After ten minutes everything had absorbed into my skin. I WAS ECSTATIC! The mask worked and did not leave any sort of film. I was very afraid that I was going to have to simply wash everything off afterwards.

My overall thoughts:

I liked this mask and in the future I would like to try out the other varieties so I will definitely repurchase. My cons would be the texture and the heaviness of the product.  If the texture is something that would bother you then I would not recommend this mask series. I don’t mind how long it took since that is usually the amount of time I leave sheet mask on anyway. I would give this mask 3.5 out of 5.

Until next time my dears,
