Would you try the PLACENTA mask sheet???

IMG_2593

The word placenta is almost as bad as the word moist. I shudder when I hear it. Ick! Although it’s now 2015 using placenta is not a new beauty or health fad.

Many beauty benefits are believed to be derived from placenta for skincare, but I have yet to see a set standard that the medical and cosmeceutical communities can agree upon. Most of these help fight aging by reducing the appearance of wrinkles, freckles, and blemishes along with a reduction in sagging skin.

I decided to review the 3W Clinic Fresh Placenta Mask Sheet this week because I wanted to see if there would be any noticeable effects.

3W Clinic Placenta Sheet Mask

Directions:

1. Wash face.

2. Apply toner.

3. Apply mask sheet.

4. Leave on for 20-30 minutes.

5. Remove mask sheet and lightly pat remaining essence for better absorption.

Price:

Roseroseshop has a set of 10 available for $1.84! They currently have 13 different types to chose from.

Ingredients:

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Alcohol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Polysorbate 60, Cetyl Ethyhexanoate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Allantoin, Hydrolyzed Placenta Protein, Disodium EDTA, Perfume.

Here’s the CosDNA analysis.

Does it contain placenta?

Yes, it contains Hydrolyzed Placenta Protein, but it is so far down the ingredient list that I doubt there is much at all.

What is Hydrolyzed Placenta Protein?

Hydrolyzed :  Break down (a compound) by chemical reaction with water.

Placenta Protein: TLDR version – hormones and other “bad stuff” is removed in order to be used.

My Experience:

I have used other 3W Clinic mask so I did not expect any sort of variation. Here’s what the mask looked like once it was opened.

Placenta sheet mask

I actually thought this mask was going to cover my entire face and neck once I pulled it from the packaging. I was pleasantly surprised to see that once I applied the mask there were no air bubbles so all of my face was covered. The mouth portion was way too big so I had to pull it up, but other than that I had no complaints.

Fast forward thirty minutes later and I remove the mask sheet. It was still very wet, but somehow my face felt sticky. I almost decided to wash my face, but instead I relied on the patting method & allowed it to dry some more. In the end it felt like I had a very thin film resting above my skin.

My Overall Thoughts:

I’m sad to say that I was not impressed with this mask. It was just well…meh. I have used the lemon and the snail from the 3W Clinic series and I liked them so much better. I will probably use the ones I have, but I do not think I will repurchase them. I would give this mask a 2.5 our of 5 stars.

Etude House Dr. Ampoule Dual Mask Sheet Review

etude house dsm stock photo

Hello fellow SanSeoulites! Recently I decided that I wanted to try out a the Dr. Ampoule Dual Mask Sheet from Etude House. I figured it would end in one of two ways. #1 I would absolutely love it or #2 my poor face would be a soaking wet mess. Let’s just say I hoped for option one. They come in five different varieties: brightening, time, lifting, vital, and essential. After looking at this photo I kind of feel like I need them all.

In the photo you can see that the mask is labeled 1 and 2.  You simply open section one first, apply to your face, & then open section two and put the mask on. I recommend tearing off section one first for easy application. The back of these masks do have directions in English, however, it is very small to read. Just look for them at the bottom below the bar code.

Silly me forgot to take a photo of how the serum looked so you will just have to take my word for it. When I opened it I discovered a clearish white gel that had a very thick consistency to it. I was doubtful this mask would even work at this point.

The mask itself seemed like any other sheet mask from Etude House. It contained a lot of essence so of course I decided to use the extra for my neck and hands. I love the fit of these mask mostly because they are the right size for my face. (Yes, I  am pint size).

I decided to leave the Dr. Ampoule Dual Mask Sheet on for roughly 30 minutes, but when I removed it I realized that my face felt like it was still soaked. I attempted to remain optimistic and patted my face to absorb the rest of the liquid. Even then it was still very wet so I decided to see how long it would take to air dry. After ten minutes everything had absorbed into my skin. I WAS ECSTATIC! The mask worked and did not leave any sort of film. I was very afraid that I was going to have to simply wash everything off afterwards.

My overall thoughts:

I liked this mask and in the future I would like to try out the other varieties so I will definitely repurchase. My cons would be the texture and the heaviness of the product.  If the texture is something that would bother you then I would not recommend this mask series. I don’t mind how long it took since that is usually the amount of time I leave sheet mask on anyway. I would give this mask 3.5 out of 5.

Local Treasures

Today I decided to brave the rain & go check out Minnano Japanese Grocery. (Click on the link to find their Facebook page). I honestly went in search of sheet mask(s). I have heard that My Beauty Diary is a great brand so I picked up a few for myself & a friend to try out. I think I will debut these on my Mask Mondays so stay tuned!

The store itself was small so I don’t think I would consider it a grocery store. It seems almost like a tourist hotspot. Minnano was stocked to the brim with merchandise, very clean, & all of the staff were super friendly. I even found myself bowing back out of habit. lol Maybe I have watched one too many k-dramas. It seems to be divided up into a few sections consisting mainly of fresh food (meat mostly), snacks, drinks, oils, cookwear, beauty, & small otaku style collectibles & gifts. I walked out with a bag of cute snacks so hopefully they taste as amazing as they look!

Top row (from left to right) : Black Pearl, Natto, & Rice.

Bottom row: Red Wine, Caviar, & Strawberry Yogurt.

These were on sale for 1 x $1.60 or 3 x $3.99. If anyone has tried this brand out please let me know!

If I had to rate this place I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. I honestly wish it was bigger! I was hoping to stock up on some cooking essentials, but I think I will have to check out some other markets in town. As for the sheet masks I am hoping that I have found my new favorite local shop to splurge at!

The Etude House Waiting Game

Hello my fellow SanSeoulites! Back in November I placed my very first order with Etude House. They offered 50% off their popular sheet masks along with free shipping for orders under 1.6kg. Being the great deal that it was I purchased a stack of sheet masks for 48 cents a piece along with a two part sheet mask, two black charcoal chin strips, & a lip gel patch.

Etude House Haul

As a somewhat new Korean beauty addict I waited patiently (okay, I may have stalked my postman) for my order to arrive. During this time I emailed Etude House numerous times to request my tracking number. When I finally received a reply the woman was a bit snarky & claimed it had been sent before, but she still gave me it to me again. At this point I didn’t care, because I had my magic numbers. I cannot stress this enough, if you plan to order through their website then CREATE AN ACCOUNT  first. This will allow you to track your order along with being able to earn points for future use. Currently 3 points is equal to $1. After a month passed I was very worried about my package. The company did email me to let me know that it was stuck in Los Angeles & offered me a 20% coupon code to help make up for it. When I finally received my order nearly two months had passed. I was a bit apprehensive when it arrived. In my head I imagined a squished leaky box, but everything arrived in perfect condition! .

Feel free to check out my photos below. I am currently trying these out & my favorite has been lemon of all things!

Leave me a comment & let me know. What’s your favorite kind of sheet mask?
